Irma Sanchez

Irma Olivares Sanchez is an Atascosa County native. She graduated from Poteet High School in 1981 and has been married to her husband Leonard Sanchez for almost 40 years. They have two daughters, Tessa and Lea, as well as two grandchildren. She earned a BA in English and history from Texas State University (Southwest Texas State at the time), and an MS in Guidance and Counseling from Texas A&M Kingsville (Texas A&I at the time).

Irma grew up hearing stories from family members as well as neighbors about “Mas antes,” long ago. They included stories about the Texas Revolution as well as confrontations with the Apache and Comanche, amongst other topics.  She incorporates this family lore, along with historical facts, into her novel Los Tejanos de Bexar.

Gary L. Moseley Sr.

Author Spotlight -  Gary L. Moseley Sr. has had a lifelong fascination with aviation. The Poteet author released “Reflections of a Chee-Chock-O Bush Mail Pilot” on Amazon.

Join Moseley on a reading adventure as he chronicles his first time working in Alaska as a pilot and brings that far off land within reach of his readers. The book’s title comes from the word “Cheechako” which means newcomer.

Born in Atascosa County, Moseley’s Texas roots run deep, as one of his ancestors fought in the first battle of the Alamo and a relative, JC Neill, was a Commander of the Alamo.
