"Welcome to Voices of Service: The Sgt. Willie Pitts Collection, a journey through the sounds of the United States Air Force and small-town Texas radio in the 1960s. I’m your host, Ronnie Pitts, and this series is dedicated to my father, Master Sergeant Willie Pitts — a proud broadcaster with the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service and a familiar voice on local airwaves here in early 1970s' South Texas as Bill Russell, KKYX.

Each episode features original recordings used for Air Force recruiting and community broadcasting during that era — the very same messages my father delivered to listeners decades ago. Alongside these clips, I’ll share the history, the context, and the stories that connect them to our family and our country’s heritage.

It’s more than nostalgia — it’s a preservation of the spirit, service, and voice of a man who inspired me, and a generation of young airmen, to aim higher. So tune in, take a step back in time, and hear the sounds that once carried both duty and dreams across the airwaves."
